| From my first July 2004 Body Composition Analysis, I have since doubled my resistance training routine, incorporating more body parts I was not working before. (Always improvements to be made!) Even though all other variables of my eating, carbohydrate levels, and level of walking for cardio (3-4 days a week, 30 minutes a day) has remained exactly the same as always, and my weight only dropping 1.8 pounds, I had regardless gone down a full dress size since July 2004. Why The Scale Lies That said, I was just itching to know how a second, up-to-date Body Composition Analysis would reflect any changes. The irony? I learned after this second September 2005 session at the Cooper Clinic that the establishment's Hydrostatic system had been modified since my last summer 2004 visit - likely skewing my latest Underwater Method results slightly. (Long story short: the Clinic changed their weighing from manual to digital.) A bit frustrating, but I decided to post the results anyway. Regarding the Skinfold Method: I don't trust this means of body fat measurement, regardless of who does the measuring, as for me it's consistently several percentage points "off" from the most accurate method (Hydrostatic/Underwater). But again, I decided to also post these results anyway. It's interesting if nothing else! Some establishments like to average the Water Method results with that of the Skinfold for the final body fat percentage results - but again, I prefer to stick with the "Gold Standard" known as Hydrostatic/Underwater Weighing. I just wish I'd gone for my Analysis update prior to the recent manual-to-digital switch! Note: Since my fitness regime, dress size (0's, 1's, & 2's), and 109-pound body weight remain in continual maintenance, I have no plans to add another body fat analysis at this time. |
