My Version of the Broccoli Shake
The original recipe, dubbed "Fawn's Broccoli Shake," was found on a low-carb message board - and I'm hooked.
What a great idea she had!  Below is my own spin on the recipe ...

  • ½ cup organic, pure Aloe Vera juice
  • 12-ounce bag of stir-fry veggies - the sweeter, the better.  For example, I use a mix of broccoli,
cauliflower, and baby carrots instead of just plain broccoli.  Both contain 9-11 grams fiber per bag.
  • A 7-ounce container of full-fat FAGE Greek Yogurt
  • ¼ cup (4 T) ground flax seed meal
  • 1 California avocado
  • 2 T organic flax borage oil for GLA/gamma linolenic acid (optional)
  • 2 handfuls of ice

I incorporate the ingredients in this order, and it might help to mix the vegetables a bit at a time.  Don't
forget a big fat straw!

Total Carbs For Entire Shake:  47.75 grams
Fiber:  25.2 grams
Please note the following:

  • This shake is "Serves 1" and is a breakfast for me when I have it.  Volume is approximately 5 cups.
  • Since your tastes might well differ from mine, the only way to determine whether or not you will like the
taste and consistency of this shake is to take close stock of the recipe's ingredients, decide if they
are for you, and just try it out!  However, do keep in mind that as I changed the ingredients to suit me,
you can do this as well.
  • As with any food or recipe, to determine whether the above ingredients and the carbohydrate count
of this shake are suitable for the 2-week Induction phase, please review the finite list of allowable
foods and make the call. (As you can see, I'm all about the fishing rod.)
  • If you use the above recipe and would prefer to replace the avocado for a 5.6-ounce (160-gram)
container of blackberries, the recipe will then yield 50.3 total carbs & 24.48 grams of fiber.
Blueberries provide a slightly sweeter taste, and of course negate any need for sweeteners.  Hope
    you like it!
